What is object pronouns?

Object pronouns are pronouns that replace the noun or nouns that receive the action of the verb in a sentence. Object pronouns are used in place of direct objects, indirect objects, and objects of prepositions. Examples of object pronouns include: me, you, him, her, it, us, them, and whom. Here are some examples:

  • Direct Object: She gave the book to him. (object pronoun: him)
  • Indirect Object: I sent a letter to my friend. (object pronoun: my friend)
  • Object of Preposition: He sat next to her. (object pronoun: her)

Object pronouns are commonly used in spoken and written English to avoid repetition and to make sentences shorter and clearer. They are an important part of English grammar and are essential in effective communication.
